David Kaye Receives The 2014 Performing Fellowship Award From The AMA.

In April I was honored by receiving the Performance Fellowship Award from the Academy of Magical Arts (the governing organization of the Magic Castle). This was an important honor for me. This award is given out once a year by the Board of Directors of the AMA. Other magicians who have received this award include Cardini, Slydini, Penn & Teller, Doug Henning, and Harry Blackstone Jr.

Perhaps most importantly, I am the first children’s magician in the fifty year history of the AMA to receive this award. This is a big honor for me and an important recognition of children’s magic as an equal member of the magic community. It has always been my goal in all the work I do in the children’s magic field – my books, columns, lectures – all to raise the bar of children’s magic around the world.

I don’t take this honor lightly and will continue working to advance the art of children’s magic. My thanks and gratitude go out to the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of the AMA.
